In your personal coordinate system Black Metal is defined by the benchmarks "Norway" and "early 1990s"? You still think the debut "Dark Medieval Times" (and maybe the follow-up "The Shadowthrone") is the best SATYRICON output? You speculate how FALKENBACH may sound without the heavy use of keyboards / synthesizer and clear vocals? You are of the opinion the title of the compilation "True Kings Of Norway" (featuring the early EPs of EMPEROR, IMMORTAL, DIMMU BORGIR, ANCIENT and ARCTURUS) is no exaggeration? You still wait for DARKTHRONE recording another album like "A Blaze In The Northern Sky"? You do not mind listening to songs which may have also been done by GORGOROTH during their "Pentagram" / "Antichrist" era? You do not mind a heavy BURZUM influenced nine minute long instrumental without guitars, bass and drums? You still consider musicians standing deep in the woods is the perfect setting for a band photo? Well, then take a listen to the debut "Tussen Hun En De Zon" by Dutch trio TARNKAPPE. The album is really an enjoying delight for all Black Metal worshippers. The use of words like delight and enjoy may sound pretty strange within the context of Black Metal, but that is the way I felt listening to the eleven songs. Because they may use the ingredients of old school Black Metal, but at the same time TARNKAPPE (German word for "magic hood", mythical cape or gown which grants invisibilty) manage to sound fresh and vitally alive. My personal Black Metal highlight this year till now. www.facebook.com/tarnkappeblackmetal, www.hammerheart.com
