Anyone out there into brutal technical Death Metal? Good! Because THRESHOLD END from the Colombian capital Bogotá are exactly for you. Started as a six-piece in 1998, the band has unleashed three small releases yet (an EP, a digital single and a demo) and shrunk to a quartet over the years. “In The Jaws Of Curse” is the first full length release and the first for a label, Godeater in this case. Since I haven’t heard anything from the band before, I have to rely on what I hear on “In The Jaws Of Curse”. And my ears pretty much like what they hear. I’m usually not a big fan of those technical stuff, for a lot of bands have a tendency to record their songs in a too clean sound. The simple reason is, that this clear sound makes all those technical pieces of skill easily audible. On the other hand, this kind of sound makes the songs sound too clinical and aseptic. To my personal joy, THRESHOLD END manages the act of balance between a good and natural sound on “In The Jaws Of Curse”. And even pretty odd sounds like those interstellar sounding bass parts on ‘Burning Inside The Flesh’ or the CYNIC inspired middle part in ‘Nuclear Annihilation (Hyun)’ fit into this harmonic production. My personal faves are the final three songs, originally released on a digital EP called “The Embrace Of The Shroud" in 2010. These three songs are a little more straight and have an extra ounce of brutality, especially the final ‘The Lurker At The Threshold’. As I already mentioned above, THRESHOLD END should please the needs of anyone into technical Death Metal with a trace of frenzy.
