TOXIC HOLOCAUST have not been to my taste since I first heard their first full length "Evil Never Dies". I thought they were not fast enough as the Thrash I like, and seemed like a bandwagon jumping band and… but wait, I am man enough to eat my words as they are a very competent and good Thrash band, a little too punky and stuck in 1985 sometimes for my desires, but good nonetheless! This new album released on Relapse Records and produced by Jack Endino, is just main evil mastermind Joel Grind with drummer Donny Paychecka and I am glad because even though Mr. Grind’s drumming is quite adequate on his previous releases the addition of a real drummer if you will is a real asset to this album in particular. It’s 1985 all over again! Wait, I think I already said that. Now as for the songs we have openers ‘Wild Dogs’ and ‘Nuke The Cross’ ragers for sure although the former’s initial riff is a tad too punky for me, it works! Ah and then we have ‘Endless Armageddon’ that promises to be one of those slow "Thrash" songs that well basically killed Thrash. But I am wrong again as it develops into a serious Thrasher reminiscent of early BATHORY! And although there are some slow jams that seem like those 6 minute songs bands like KREATOR and the likes started to put into their albums to fill them out, and in the case of TOXIC HOLOCAUST are only 2-3 minute songs (definitely not good when your song is short but seems long and dragging). This is an overall good album for old farts such as myself and maybe some new kids who are tired of evile bands singing about teenage mutant ninja turtles and pizza! Like I said a good solid effort from TOXIC HOLOCAUST. Straight out of 1985 but with a good heavy, crisp nowadays production.
