Coming out of Poland, we got the 7th issue of this magazine called TRIBAL CONVICTIONS, one of the multiple works that Robert, main man behind Psycho Records, is doing along with issuing albums in an impressive rate. But now I must talk about the magazine and not his bands, and at this point it’s clear that this dude has an old vision of what Death Metal is, certainly with this 7th issue, you remember those mid 90s magazines that were so popular then. Black and white, photocopied, it comes with 49 pages of pure underground, including interviews with MESMERIZED (one of his bands) but also BRUTALLY DECEASED, HERPES, FORMIS, Costa Rican Horror Death Metal freaks MUMMIFIED, NAILGUN MASSACRE, SHREDLUST & VERDUGO… as you see, all pretty crude. The whole thing comes in Polish but I had access to one of the interviews, particularly the one for MUMMIFIED and I must confess that it was quite interesting and well structured, getting into particular details that made me think this guy likes to investigate and search for information before making the questions, my assumption is that the rest are in the same direction. The layout graphic design seems a little bit simple, and maybe this is something to consider for future releases, the use of some gory / retro / splatter / creepy borders to make it look even better would be a good idea. In terms of reviews, well it has about 70 album reviews along with magazine reviews mainly from Poland, but also there were some reviews from Peru, Bolivia, Spain and even Cuba… so you see… we’re speaking of worldwide underground. Finally I must add that the issue comes with a compilation CD-R featuring all the bands included in this number, which is cool because it allows you to get a better idea on what less known bands are doing nowadays. If you speak Polish, go for this one, this is a pretty honest underground effort from one of those freaks that really enjoys sharing his vision when the early days of Metal music were more honest and straight to the point.
