INCANTATION has been forced to cancel their appearances at this year’s Stonehenge and Mass Deathstruction Festivals. INCANTATION frontman, John McEntee has issued the following statement: "It is with great regret we announce that we had to cancel our headlining festival appearance at the Stonehenge Fest in Holland and the Mass Deathstruction Fest in Belgium this weekend. Between us and our booking agent we did all we could to try to make the fest appearance happen, but only after many attempts we had to come to the conclusion that there was just no way to make it happen. We want apologize both fest organizers for giving us this opportunity. We also want to thank all our supporters that were looking forward to our performances. We know that both promoters are very stand up people, and I’m sure both fest will be a great success." INCANTATION is still scheduled to appear at the Hostile City Death Fest in Philadelphia, PA on August 27 as well as the Noctis IV Metal Fest in Calgary, Alberta, Canada on September 24. After 13 years of silence Poland’s Death / Thrashers MAGNUS have returned to the scene. The band has signed a contract with Witching Hour Productions for 2 new albums as well as reissues of all their previous recordings. Their comeback album "Acceptance Of Death" was recorded at Tower Studio, DSP Studio and ATK Studio in 2009 and mixed and mastered at Fonoplastikon by Marcin Bors in 2010. It will be released on September 15. With the closing of the "Campaign Of Death Metal Purity" tour GRAVEHILL would like to announce that Matt "Hellfiend" Harvey (EXHUMED, DEKAPITATOR, REPULSION, CRETIN) has officially joined the band as their permanent guitarist. Harvey will already contribute to the final writing process of GRAVEHILL’s next album "When All Roads Lead To Hell". Plans are to enter Trench Studio’s with John Haddad near Thanksgiving to do all the tracking and then finish with Ryan Butler at Arcane Digital Recording for all mixing and mastering. Jeff Zornow, who already did GRAVEHILL artwork for the "Campaign Of Death Metal Purity" tour, will also be on board again for the visuals. The main live show’s audio (which equals the CD format content) was mixed and mastered by producer Dan Swanö (Bloodbath, Edge Of Sanity, etc.), who had previously taken care of the sonic brilliance for the "Death…The Brutal Way" album. The total 2CD playing time is approximately 110 minutes. The old school artwork for "Live Death Doom" was created by Axel Hermann, who had previously been responsible for the artworks of band’s classic releases from the 90s. While currently writing material for the follow up to their 2007 release "Spiritual Apocalypse" MONSTROSITY have been preparing a blistering live setlist to devastate all who come across their path. Progressive Death Metallers OBSCURA have begun recording the follow-up album to their breakthrough release "Cosmogenesis" at Woodshed Studio in southern Germany. Engineer V. Santura (TRIPTYKON, DARK FORTRESS) will helm the recording. An early 2011 release date is expected with additional album details to be announced soon. OBSCURA founder Steffen Kummerer commented on the new album: "We are glad to work with our long-time friend V.Santura once again to record our new album. The new material feels broader in some way as everybody in this band brought many unique ideas to the songwriting and we were able to integrate different elements into our sound. More open chords, more acoustic guitars, more seven string shred-tunes. Remember: more is always more. We are excited to create another album of progressive Death Metal and to start touring through the whole world in early 2011." OBSCURA’s recording and touring line-up remains as Kummerer on guitar and vocals, Christian Muenzner on guitar, Jeroen Paul Thesseling on bass and Hannes Grossman on drums. The band will round out the "Cosmogenesis" touring cycle with a performance as part of the Mezcal Metal Festival in Mexico City, Mexico in September. Swedish old school Death Metallers EVOCATION will release their third album "Apocalyptic" in late October / early November. The band finished the recordings some weeks ago and here’s some quotes from guitar player Marko about the recordings shortly before Thomas did his vocal-job: "Everything was progressing just as we planned! For the drums we had some amazing help this time – Roberto Laghi (Producer for IN FLAMES etc.). And the result – well to be honest I haven’t ever heard such an amazing drum sound… Prepare to be blown away… Same goes for the guitars and the bass as well – the sound has progressed and is more evil than ever! Next up to get to work is Thomas (vocals). After having heard his ideas for the vocal patterns together with the songs we all feel very confident that this album will become by far our strongest achievement up to date. Swedish PUTERAEON will enter Studio Decay with D.K. (TAETRE) behind the knobbs on July 26. This will be the start of the recording of their upcoming Cyclone Empire release "The Esoteric Order". Jonas Lindblood has some more news for: "Just a short update. The coverartwork is finished. We are just about getting ready to start recording the album as well. We will start recording drums in Studio Decay (with my friend D.K. from my other band TAETRE). After finishing their pre-production work in June, French masters of extremes SIDEBLAST are currently recording their second album "Cocoon". The band is recording 11 songs and all will be mixed and mastered at the Hertz Studio in Poland (BEHEMOTH, VADER, DECAPITATED…) in early September. ATHEIST are currently hard at work on their forthcoming full-length at LedBelly studios near Atlanta, Georgia. The long-awaited fourth album is entitled "Jupiter" and is tentatively due in November. Drummer Steve Flynn comments on the album’s title: "’Jupiter’ was the perfect name for this record because it truly describes the sheer mass of this record while never really having a true surface! And, the great red spots on this album are very violent little atheist storms that have been brewing since our return." "Jupiter" will be mixed by Jason Suecof (TRIVIUM, CHIMAIRA, DEVILDRIVER).
SADIST, VIRGIN SNATCH, CRIONICS plus two other bands will play all across Europe during the fall of this year. The tour will kick off at the end of September in Poland, with additional dates in Prague (Czech Republic) and Bratislava (Slovakia). Once the Polish leg of the "Beware Of Your Neck 2010" is done all the bands will head towards Lithuania, Latvia, Estonia, Belarus, Russia, Ukraine and Moldova, starting on October 13 in Kaliningrad with the last date on October 23 in Moscow. A month later SADIST, VIRGIN SNATCH, CRIONICS will most likely visit other European countries, such as Germany, Holland, Belgium, France, Italy, Switzerland, Austria, Romania, Bulgaria and Hungary. This is going to be SADIST’s first-ever live appearance in Poland where the band had always been critically acclaimed for their previous albums "Above The Light", "Tribe" and "Crust". The band is currently promoting their latest opus "Seasons In Silence" at differrent summer festivals around all Europe. For the Cracov-based thrashers of VIRGIN SNATCH this will be the last set of shows before they hit the studio in order to record the "Act Of Grace" successor. According to the band itself their new album is going to be their strongest offer to date. Polish CRIONICS (their new line-up consists of musicians of VADER, DEVILISH IMPRESSIONS, THY DISEASE and ASGAARD) will be promoting the "N.O.I.R." EP which is going to be released beginning of October. The other two bands to join the tour will be announced in the middle of July.
Ibex Moon Records regretfully announces that the last four dates of the Campaign For Death Metal Purity tour, featuring GRAVEHILL, CARDIAC ARREST and HOD, will not go on as planned. Though HOD dropped off the bill after the July 7th date in Austin, TX, other factors led to Gravehill and Cardiac Arrest canceling the final dates. Cardiac Arrest drummer, Jim "Grindhead" Deabenderfer issued the following statement. "We in Cardiac Arrest and Gravehill are disappointed to be in this position. Canceling shows is not something either of our camps are accustomed to. We are forced to drop these dates for purely logistic reasons, not financial. This should not reflect on any of the promoters for the dates in question – our plans simply had to change with the situation. Both Cardiac Arrest and Gravehill are committed to make up these four dates as soon as possible." The affected dates are as follows: July 15 – Buccaneer’s – Memphis, TN, July 16 – Downtown Music – Little Rock, AR, July 17 – Walters – Houston, TX and July 18 – Ten Eleven – San Antonio, TX. The Campaign For Death Metal Purity Tour will conclude tonight in Indianapolis, IN at The Melody Inn with Cardiac Arrest and Gravehill playing alongside Abyss Records acts MAAX and Christ Beheaded.

New Jersey’s techno Thrashers HADES have just signed a deal with Cyclone Empire to re-release their first 3 CDs in Europe with multiple bonus tracks. "Resisting Success" (1987), "If At First You Don’t Succeeed" (1988) and "Live On Location" (1991) will be remastered and re-released later this year. Included in the CDs will be written memories from each of the performers – Alan Tecchio, Dan Lorenzo, Tom Coombs, Scott LePage, Ed Fuhrman and Jimmy Schulman. "These CDs have some really cool bonus tracks. Not HADES related bands, but actual HADES recordings most of which had never been released before. This includes some remixes of ‘The Leaders’ and ‘Nightstalker’ from our first album plus a bunch of demos from before we went in to record each CD", guitarist Dan Lorenzo stated. One of the bonus tracks on "Resisting Success" is of the old HADES instrumental ‘Sledgehammer Press’… with a twist. All the guitars were recorded by Scott LePage and his 17 year old son Scottie LePage. HADES will perform this Saturday at the Bang Your Head festival in Balingen, Germany. India’s online fanzine DIABOLICAL CONQUEST, which covers genres like Death Metal, Grindcore, Black, Doom and Thrash Metal recently started an own label called Diabolical Conquest Records and have just released their first CD which is a re-release of THE DEAD’s 2009 self-released 2nd album "Ritual Executions". According to the label it is "a brilliant mix of twisted, brain-warping Death Metal and miasmic sludgy / Stoner Doom". Swedish CRUCIFYRE (featuring members from MORBID, CREMATORY and AFFLICTED), have announced the title of their debut album as "Infernal Earthly Divine". Italian Death Metallers HUMANGLED will be filming a video for the track ‘Liquidfire’, from their Abyss Records debut, "Fractal". The band has teamed up with award-winning director / screenwriter Vincezno Ricchiuto for the shoot. Filming is scheduled to get underway this month. Guitarist Luke Scurb has this to say about the video’s subject matter, "’Liquidfire’ is a severe analysis of the loss of consciousness due to drug abuses. F.D.A. Records will be re-releasing "Impulse To Destroy", the legendary debut album by Germany’s Death / Grinders BLOOD on July 15, 2010. Just like the original release it will once again be out on vinyl and is limited to 500 copies (150 on red vinyl, 50 on red / black marbled vinyl and 300 on black vinyl).
On November 17, 2010 "Tales From The Morgue", the debut full length by Sweden’s old school Deathers ENTRAILS, will also be released on vinyl via F.D.A. Records www.fda-records.com.
