On August 15, 2020 Nuclear War Now! Productions will release a collection of rare live recordings from Norway’s 666, entitled “666”, on CD and vinyl LP formats. 666 (pronounced “sax-sax-sax”) was formed in the northern city of Tromsø in early 1982 and consisted of Alf “Alfen” Krogseth (guitar), Knut Nilsen (drums), Knut Seppelæ (guitar) and Bjørn Olav “Bønna” Helberg (bass). Towards the end of 1982, Tom Arne Hermansen joined them as their vocalist, and in 1983 Helberg was replaced on bass by Erik Smith-Meyer. Their main incluences were VENOM, MOTÖRHEAD and THE STOOGES. 666 never recorded any studio material, but released three live CDs on No Noise Reduction (the label of band manager Dag Erik Salsten) between 1998 and 2003. These were pressed in very limited quantities of around 100 units each, so they never attracted the attention that the band deserved. The upcoming Nuclear War Now! Short-lived Tampa, Florida based Death / Thrashers EPITAPH released two demos in the early 90s: a three-song demo that was recorded in 1991 with Tom Morris at Morrisound Recording (featuring backing vocals from OBITUARY’s John Tardy) and a two-song demo in 1992, also recorded at Morrisound, but this time with Scott Burns. In August this year Divebomb Records will re-release those two demos on a CD entitled “Echoes Entombed: The Demo Anthology (1991 – 1992)”, with three bonus tracks that were remixed by Mark Lewis at MRL Studios outside Nashville. The whole material was remastered by Jamie King Audio and the booklet will be packed with lyrics, archival photographs and a retrospective interview with the entire classic line-up of the band.
