Time for Death Metal. GORENCEPHALIC is a Death Metal band from Brazil, formed in 2023, about which I had no idea. But this is the beauty of Metal, getting great surprises. I think I have said it before, when I see the word “Brutal” prefixed to the words “Death Metal”, I immediately enclose myself in my wall of preventions, since, I must admit that I am not a very good receiver of this style. However, once “Gore Of The Forgotten”, the band’s first EP, started playing, I was instantly captivated. I liked the sound, the voice, the style, the very diverse tempos in which the band undulates, from one side to the other, permanently accelerating and decelerating. Playing with the vocals up and down, with a certain level of reverb (which fascinates me so much). Anyway, an EP that little by little, second by second, was trapping me more and more in its net. The tracks are very Death Metal. With the imprint of Death Metal, so I found it fascinating. GORENCEPHALIC’s line-up is Krusius Barreto (bass, vocals), Yuri Hamayano (drums), Andrey Braga (guitar) and Fulvio Alsan (guitar), forming a quartet that knows how and where to put the meat on the grill. It seems to me a compact, homogeneous, symmetrical EP that does not leave a riff, a chord, a note, a snare hit to chance. Everything is made to measure. The tracks are extremely dynamic (something I already said above) and it is one of the elements that can be most easily identified from this group in this EP, that continuous dynamism. For this re-edition, the label Nihilistic Holocaust included three bonus tracks, making it even more powerful and complete. In summary, we are facing an excellent EP, which evaporates a Death Metal of a very high technical level and very elaborated. Listen to it, simply listen to it.
