Impressive. Impressive indeed! With this release, ABORTED show us their roots very much. Not only by furiously covering ENTOMBED’s ‘Drowned’: among all those breathtaking hyperspeed blasts, ABORTED massively use energetic Thrash-beats and -riffs, especially on the opener ‘Gestated Rabidity’. The other completely new song ‘Voracious Haemaglobinic Syndrome’ starts with quite a blast as well but shows quite some creepy mid-tempo passages. Very groovy plus great melodic leads (something that struck me throughout the whole CD anyway). Apart from those 3 songs we get a new version of ‘The Sanctification of Refornication’ and two bootleg sounding live tracks from last year’s Party.San open air. The bonus material also features those live tracks on video plus another clip from that very festival appearance and, finally, a video clip of ‘Meticulous Invagination’ made by Maurice Swinkel’s (OCCULT) Low Life Media. Nothing groundbreaking nor innovative but professional quality. I just keep asking myself: why do they use such songtitles for a video clip? I doubt that any bigger TV station will ever take a look at this, let alone playing it! Anyway, this CD is definitely worth buying and in case those 2 new tracks remain exclusive, it’s almost essential because the band has reached a level many others can’t even dream about: top notch musicianship together with memorable song writing! www.goremageddon.be.
