“… there are no words to describe agony, there are only sounds”. With these words the second full-length release by AMOEBIC DYSENTERY is unleashed upon the listener. Admitting that this introduction is absolutely adequate I now face the problem to write some words about this output. But otherwise it is no real problem, since the band does not offer something apart from the well-known and (at least for me) beloved scheme of Gore Grind. Almost all songs are launched with a movie sample or sometimes just strange noises, the vocals can be characterized by words like gargling, screaming, grunting and whispering, polished by pitch shifter and harmonizer. From time to time some untypical elements interrupt the fast played songs, for example melodic Punk rock. Of course just for a short time, then the grinding starts again. But the atmosphere is a little mixed up, a technique that reminds me of bands like MACABRE. The lyrics? Well, with song titles like ‘Acidic Uroflush Of Semantic Urethral Jism’ or ‘Too Fat For Emo’ no more comments are needed. There is one point that is always controversial – the use of a drum computer. Personally I do not mind it, but on “Hospice Orgy” it sounds, especially in the very fast parts, a little bizarre, in fact hollow and plastic. Ok, that is what critics say about all drum computers, however there are bands using a drum computer and manage to avoid this plastic sound. Despite this inconvenience I like this release and I guess other people who enjoy fast played Gore Grind like REGURGITATE, IMPETIGO or DEAD INFECTION should visit the band at myspace to check out the band and to form an opinion about the drum computer sound. www.myspace.com/amoebicdysentery
