AS LIGHT DIES, is a band that is indeed skilled in their use of their instruments, song arrangements / compositions, yet seem to be blighted with the disease called A.D.D. or Attention Deficit Disorder. Too many weird, twisting paths of riffing and writing, odd choices of symphonic inclusions and / oor vocal patterns make each track on this 13 song CD almost an egregious attempt of audio assault on my psyche.. Obviously this disc is not my cup of blood, moreover, AS LIGHT DIES is for those fans that are into the more progressive and atmospheric fields of Death, Black, Doom, Folk/Gothic, and even Jazz Metal. Strictly speaking bands as ANATHEMA, PARADISE LOST ( “Icon” and beyond), ORPHANAGE, OPETH, TRISTANIA, CYNIC, the dreaded and reviled VED BUENS ENDE, BORKNAGAR, and of course ARCTURUS. Professionally recorded, mixed, and packaged. The very first album release that I have seen / heard from this record company, that at least these aspects of this CD have my attention and admiration, even if your label act here eats away at my sanity!
