Salvation Like Destruction

Without a doubt we are currently facing the dawn of a new Thrash era with young bands from all over the world sounding like their / our old (German) Thrash idols. This revival – as all Metal movements of the last 15 years – is again a phenomenon because within a very short period the labels had hunted down every potential Thrash band – with good, but also very bad examples. But there are also bands which never followed any kind of trend – they just play the music they like. The Australian ASSAULTER are exactly such a band and their debut is a fine example for a fucking great Metal album. With their debut “Salvation Like Destruction” the band is maybe not presenting a pure Thrash album – think that at least half of the songs could also be summarized under the lovely term Speed Metal – but the playing time of 40 minutes is like a trip to long forgotten times. But ASSAULTER are in the position to offer a more updated version somehow. Simon Berserker (ex – DESTROYER 666) has done a terrific job and this debut is the perfect bloody piece of meat for the coming head banging season. ASSAULTER furthermore just released a limited vinyl EP via Iron Bonehead – so also check this release – this band is for sure worth all efforts. www.pulverised.net, www.myspace.com/burningfront
