So, what have we got on the main menu as main courses? Let me see… ‘Foreskin Mask’, ‘Cannibal Breed’, ‘Rectal Destruction’, ‘Cuntgrinder’, etc. Hmmm… lovely and tasty? Eh, depends on what you are searching for, I guess. ATRETIC INTESTINE, this 5-piece slaughterhouse from Finland, has been around since 2006 – and ever since these young and morbid fellows have been keen on playing a relatively technical, chunky and grinding Death Metal into vein of most brutal form of US Death Metal, with only a few melodies here and there. Having released a couple of demos and EPs prior to this – the band’s 10-track debut full-length album titled "Encased", these Finnish fellows have slowly been trying to build up a reputation as one of the most hopeful new Death Metal forces coming out from the Finnish soil. Undoubtedly there’s some demand for this type of ultra-guttural, pig-slaughtering Death Metal but unfortunately ATRETIC INTESTINE don’t do much for me. It’s the type of "I have seen and experienced this before" thing, when you neither feel moved – nor get your necessary kicks out of something you listen to, any more. Even after spinning this disc back and forth for a couple of extra rounds, didn’t help me to change my mind about them. Downright dull and boring were probably the first two words that appeared in my thoughts right after I had crawled through all ten songs on this release. I expect some quality from the releases I listen to in general, and sadly couldn’t find any from this slab. Well, not my fault.
