Eternal Throne

Opening with a track that evokes a sense of battle both in progress and done with, BATTLE DAGORATH make their album debut. Northern California’s scene attracted much notice with the rise of LEVIATHAN and SAPTHURAN in 2004, and though BATTLE DAGORATH would seem to be next in line, they are more than competent enough to have enough staying power to last them well into the future. “Eternal Throne” is quite obviously inspired from albums like “Filosofem” by BURZUM and the sad, but crushing riffs of STRID. Many American bands who write in this stylstice vein, like FIRTH OF DAMNATION, have their songs set on a backdrop of ambient static, sometimes a little too pronounced for comfort. This, above all, is the only real flaw in an otherwise good album. The album is a comparatively short one for a modern Black Metal band (?? – Frank), and this is a very recommending feature considering the pish that some bands find it necessary to include in-between their songs.
