BLASPHEMOUS PUTREFACTION
Abominable Premonition
(Dunkelheit Produktionen)
20:58min

Great artwork (done by Grasenstyle Blood Artwork) on the cover, but the content can not keep the promise. Well, as this demo tape by BLASPHEMOUS PUTREFACTION from Germany is their first output everyone should show a bit of appreciation for their efforts. No one is expecting something brilliant or smashing for the first time musicians decide to go public. The main problem I have with "Abominable Premonition" is the fact the band is trying for about half the running time to play Doom Metal but simply fails on this topic. Doom is supposed to more than assembling some riffs and slow drums. If you subtract the intro, the second part of ‘Fumes Of Horror’ and the last track, both are more a collage of sounds than a worked out song, you will at least discover two and a half minutes of well hung rotten Death Metal. Guttural to the maximum vocals and riffs in the intersection of late ’80s and early ’90s Grindcore and Death Metal. For the future the band is hopefully concentrating on this style and leaving the Doom parts behind. Then maybe the (limited to 200) cassette may become a collector’s item.
