Is it the kinda (good) demo-production or the lack of speed in the record’s first half that doesn’t let me fully enjoy German Thrashers third full length album? Their style is rather old school with shrieky vocals in the vein of DESTRUCTION and KREATOR. Some more modern influences here and there but not too many. Pretty good songwriting and cool leads as well but when BLOOD RED ANGEL are going for uff-ta speed I can’t get help but thinking: is this all? They prepare me to bang my head and then leave me standing – unsatisfied. I think the core of the problem is a combination of the aforementioned lack of speed at certain passages (especially song No. 2 and 4) plus the production: the drums (esp. the kick drums) are too much in the foreground but don’t develop enough drive for that. Apart from this essential problem, “Crime Entertainment” offers a bunch of cool songs fans of German Thrash probably will appreciate.
