BODDICKER from Detroit, MI is another underground outfit worshipping the chaos in form of a sick mixture of Death Metal, Grindcore, Crust and Death’n’Roll or even Sludge. The Band slashes through the provided twelve tracks with only twenty-one minutes running time like an express train. What surprised me is the fact, that they manage to sound fresh with their dirty style. Each song has its own power and melody, even though the sound remains rough and violent. The vocals are a mixture between grunts and screams, similar to old CROWBAR releases. In tradition to old Grindcore releases, as fast as one track stops, the next one begins. But the band manages to still hold on for a short while and gives the generous listener the chance, to slide from one into the next track. Their style reminds me a bit of mighty NASUM and their fine releases. All instruments are played very professional. Fast drumming with some blast-beats, sawing guitars and of course the mentioned ugly vocals. The influences of Swedish Death Metal of the 90s are given, but they manage to breathe some new life into this rotten genre. ‘Bath Salt Baptism’ is a real good track and a representative taster. Productionwise the sound is dirty and rough but well fitting. The EP closes with a cover tune of DANZIGs ‘Brand New God’, a fine uptempo tune with some dark vocals and a slow paced ending. As these guys worship the underground, this re-release is again released on tape, limited to 100 copies only and can be ordered via: www.facebook.com/bloodsoakedrecords.
