BULLETSIZE is a Swedish band devoted to a combination of old school Thrash and modern Death Metal, despite their beginning as a Thrash Metal band. The mastermind and carrier of the whole project is Andreas Persson, the last member of the original line-up. This is their fifth studio album although this is a hybrid release – in fact the album is basically divided into two parts: the first seven songs are unreleased while the other six are live performances of songs contained in their previous albums (five from “The Apokalypse” and one from “Numb”). Maybe we can consider the unreleased songs as an EP, as overall they last less than 25 minutes, and the live performances as some bonus. That stated, I suppose this is a choice in order to release some unreleased material, although the number of tracks was slim, as their last work “Pansar” was released in 2016. Despite the first doubts, I have to admit that this is quite an interesting thing to do as we can understand the evolution in the sound of the band. The sound, as I already mentioned, is a combination of Thrash Metal and Death Metal since the musical part is more oriented to the Thrash composition and is well mixed with some Death Metal incursion, with some particular growls. In order to compare them to some other acts, I would mention KREATOR, EXODUS, EXHORDER. The live tracks are quite raw, but the recording gives you a good idea of the band’s live performances – they sound as a Thrash / Death Metal live album should sound! Overall, I enjoyed the album – the unreleased tracks are worth a listen and the live tracks are a good excuse to go in depth with their previous works.
