BURDEN OF GRIEF

I’m glad that BURDEN OF GRIEF have finally been picked up by an established company as I already considered them a highly talented bunch when they put out their previous two self financed mini CD’s (which ended up being re-issued as the “Haunting Requiems” full length CD). Musically this German five-piece still sticks to the melodic Death Metal style and even though there’s quite obviously been way too many soundalikes in the past years, BURDEN OF GRIEF still manage to impress me. And I don’t even exactly know why. Maybe it’s because their material always sounds pretty fresh and gets performed in a very energetic way, maybe it’s because of several powerful killer riffs or the catchiness courtesy of their incorporated strong melodies. Or it is the overall intensity and aggression…?! Well, maybe it’s a combination of everything. Fact is that BURDEN OF GRIEF have really good chances to survive the “Gothenburg-style overkill” because they don’t limit themselves and if you listen carefully you will hear lots of different influences in their songwriting which they partly reflect in extremely strong coversongs (MAIDEN’s ‘Prowler’ on “Haunting Requiems” and now METALLICA’s “Master Of Puppets”). So, if you’re still open for some more melodic Death, make sure to check this out. Quality guaranteed!
