To Burn A False Prophet

What is is with the water in Canada? 90% of the bands from that northern country are really good! And BURNING CASKETS fits this description perfectly. Their debut album, "To Burn A False Prophet", is just out. First of all, it sounds great! The production is dynamic, natural and punchy without the excessive compression and enormous volume. That caught my ear from the start. It has a really familiar mid-90s vibe that grows along the album. The mix is well-balanced. Sometimes I missed the bass guitar, but everything else is up front and clear. These guys know how to play their instruments and it stands out, specially in the track entitled ‘Sexually Tortured’, which is my favorite! Great stuff there! Guitar wise, there are lots of twisted riffs going on, all based on a really tight rhythm section. Maybe a couple songs turned out a little basic at times for me, but they quickly get back to the grooving power and excellent vocals similar to John Tardy. Actually, their sound reminded me of OBITUARY’s album "World Demise". Mid-paced and heavy Death Metal, but BURNING CASKETS add their own twist of blasphemy to the mix. Definitively a band to look out for, recommended and worthy of all your support! www.burningcaskets.com
