CARCASS
Captive Bolt Pistol
(Nuclear Blast Records)
8:00min

Finally mighty CARCASS are celebrating their comeback on a sound recording medium. First of all with a nice 7" single release. Available in a million different colored vinyl versions, I guess. Mine is in toxic green by personal choice. Looks more like a TYPE-O-NEGATIVE release. Just kidding. The only weak thing to mention about this release is the poor packaging design. Supplemental sheet and plastic jacket. Done. The strength of course is the music on this 7". After 8:00 minutes it is crystal clear. This is one of the reunions, which makes 110% sense. If you already hated "Swansong" and "Heartwork" in the 90s, you won’t like this one too. Because it shows Liverpool’s finest in their finest moments again. Lets face it. You won’t get another "Reek Of Putrefaction" or "Symphonies Of Sickness" here. Maybe on the upcoming full-length "Surgical Steel" they will come up with some Deathgrind! But who knows? On this 7" a mixture of "Swansong", "Heartwork" and " Necroticism – Descanting The Insalubriuous" reigns. The a side ‘Captive Bolt Pistol’ is classic "Heartwork" style at its best. The b side ‘Intensive Battery Brooding’ starts as an intensive rocker / groover and is leading into a CARCASSish Metal style song. Really creative and original. But it works and shows the best sides of CARCASS. This is highest quality extreme Metal. Much better and more worthy than 98,5% of the current bands and releases out there. This is the imaginable strongest return of the two old men plus 2 youngsters making a helluva noise again. Can’t wait to get "Surgical Steel" on September 13, 2013. This is the very best. As if time has stopped in the early / mid 90s. Conclusion. Old school never has been so relevant and seasonable today than this one! www.facebook.com/officialcarcass
