This is the debut EP of this very young band from Heist-op-den-Berg, province of Antwerp. CARNATION are in fact one the most promising acts from Belgium that are promoting their first release in the best way they can, also with a lot of live experiences. Their sound is rooted in old school Death Metal, strongly influenced by the likes BOLT THROWER, BENEDICTION, GRAVE, ASPHYX and so on; they also add single elements in order to create their own style or, to say in a better way, to show their personality. The five songs of "Cemetery Of The Insane" are mainly based on marching and moshing mid-paced beats or classic skank beats, and some short blast beat is not missing either, so there is a continous tempo change, a dynamism that keeps the listening process focused and avoids it from being boring. CARNATION deliver us more than a simple business card, "Cemetery Of The Insane" is a solid EP with a great combination of killer riffs, atrocious vocals and a bombing drumming. The title-track and ‘The Ritual Of Flesh’ are my favorite songs here, but there is no false step in the other three ones. I’m very curious to listen to the next work of these guys, surely they’re just ready for a first full-length.
