The promo-sheet is listing up some bands which provide inspiration for CARNIVORE DIPROSOPUS and amongst the usual suspect like CANNIBAL CORPSE, DYING FETUS etc. there are at least two big influences missing – namely MORTICIAN and ABORTED. Especially MORTICIAN can be used as blueprint for “Madhouse’s Macabre Acts”. The same deep grunting vocals, the change between mid-paced double bass parts and fast blast beats. Surprisingly I discovered that it is a human drum machine performing on this release. Sounds exactly like the MORTICIAN drum computer and I wonder what is better, a drum computer sounding like a human or a human sounding like a drum computer? But besides such discussions, the music is quite enjoyable, if you do not mind the drum sound. Brutal Death Metal in the vein of the above mentioned bands, nothing spectacular though, but fans of this genre will like it. CARNIVORE DIPROSOPUS originate from Columbia and “Madhouse’s Macabre Acts” is their second release, but my first encounter with the band. So I have no further information how they sounded before, but the with an album title like “Filled My Stomach With Pregnant Corpse” I guess they played brutal Death Metal before and not necessarily Prog Rock. www.myspace.com/carnivorediprosopus
