Again true Norwegian Black Metal you get on this full length debut. But surprisingly it’s possible to play this style in the name of Satan with a sound worth the name, but however not too overproduced for the Black Metal fanatics. Maybe it is also because the band doesn’t need to hide their riffs under noise as they know how to play their instruments. After a fast and brutal start more and more mid tempo groove parts occur between the blast beats, as for example in the third song ‘The Imprint Of Corrupted Souls’ (my favourite on the record). A little bit funny are the sounds at the end of ‘New Flesh’, I suppose it should be the sound of bombs, but I don’t need 2 minutes of it. All in all the record has 8 songs which are fun to listen to. With the mixture of blast, groove and in track 7 even a little Thrash there’s enough variety that pretends the record of becoming boring. A band that sometimes comes into my mind while listening to the songs is Gorgoroth (to give you a direction where to put Carpticon).
