What an intro: heavy as an elephant’s arse! Kinda reminds me of MORBID ANGEL. Next track: 45 seconds of pure grinding armageddon! The main part of the album offers a great range from doomy, creepy, verrry heavy Death Metal to high speed Grindcore. In between there are pure R’n’R riffs (like in ‘Black Metal Sabbath’ or ‘Anthro Emesis’) or strange jazzy parts (like in ‘Tee Isle Of California’). Quite a few more or less well known people contributed guest “vokills” on “Lucid…” like some DISGORGE (Mex.) guys and the lyrics are highly original as well, probably the most unusual I read in extreme Metal for ages. To reduce it to the max, they’re about moral decline in ancient Rome, in the US… Actually, one is about somebody doing a zine and getting fed up with the music business, etc. – I guess Frank could tell you quite a bit about that as well (bet your ass on that! – Frank). One thing’s for sure: this record will not get boring for a long time! In case you’re into “progressive” strange Death Metal / Grindcore (still, to me most of the twists and turns sound natural): give it a try! The most bizarre song, the hidden track, must have been composed (and played) under massive influence of cannabis (no, not cannibalism). But when listening to “Lucid…” you won’t need any drugs I think as this musick’s gonna make you dizzy anyway.
