CIRITH GORGOR perform genuine, original and primitive (in the sense of primordial or original) Black Metal. This is indicated by the design of their logo – very old school-ish actually – the appearance of the booklet’s cover is quite straight-forward as well (b/w, burning woods etc.) and then the album’s title (which, of course isn’t very original but who gives a darn?). The tracks are extreme to be honest – a lot of high-speed passages, croaking voice, high-pitched guitars, infernal samples like thunder, bomb explosions and diverse obscure noises hardly identifiable. Comparisons that may enter my mind are acts such as SETHERIAL and IN BATTLE when it comes to speed, DODHEIMSGARD when it comes to sound. The vocals are awe-inspiring due to the fact that this madman seemingly doesn’t cease to regurgitate his blasphemies. I especially like the fifth track of this record – entitled ‘Fields Of Eternal Glory’ – this one really combines all the qualities of the band – speed, aggression, samples, frantic atmosphere. To top all of this, the promotional information on this simple booklet reads as follows “For promotional and antichristian use only” – very straight forward again. But still, for me this bears a certain humoresque note… I am wondering whether this is meant 100% seriously… I guess so… And then – at last – the generous playing time of this record is great. Nearly one hour. Congrats!
