With “The Enemies We Create” this band from Munich presents their second full length album after their debut “World’s Destructive Domination” in 2006. Unfortunately I don’t know this first record, but after listening to the new one I will change this soon. COMMANDER serve us classic Death Metal with excursions in Thrash domains. It is not the brutal Death Metal massacre we often get to hear. The songs are deep massive mid tempo mashers filled up by technical breaks at the right places and interrupted by explosive Thrash riffs. The title track differs a little bit from the other songs. It starts with a guitar intro (I’m not sure, but I think I heard this one somewhere else already) and is pimped up with clean vocals, even if I like the growls more. My favourites are ‘My Worst Enemy’ (great straight forward riffing with blast beats) and ‘Valley Of Fallen Stars’, which is a great groover. Concerning the contents, fronter Nick says, the lyrics are about the creation and existence of concept enemies, which is a nice variation to all the blood and gore lyrics. This promo also contains a 7 minute video with a live performance from the 2006 Dong Festival. Last but not least “The Enemies We Create” is rounded by a great production (courtesy of Munich’s Hellion-Studios), so you can easily buy this record of these German hopefuls. www.commander-crew.de
