CONCATENATUS
Aeonic Dissonances Beyond Light's Consumption

Chile is a land with a lot of Black Metal class. Think of FORCE OF DARKNESS, EJECUTOR, HADES ARCHER, PERVERSOR, COMMUNION or SLAUGHTBBATH. I’m not sure if CONCATENATUS can be added to this list. The band exists only for two years and has released a demo (”Meditation Through The Inner Vortex”) in 2015 and an EP in 2016 entitled ”Aeonic Dissonances Beyond Light’s Consumption”. This is a compilation of both releases, released on the German label Totenmusik. The style on this EP is some kind of Doom / Black that reminded of BURZUM (”Hvis Lyset Tar Oss”) minus the keyboards. Equally as monotone and with tracks that clock around the seven minutes. A big plus is that it sounds pretty old school. The tempo is low and the atmosphere is mostly created by the vocals. One time they sound tormented and the other time they’re too much for my taste, like in ’Hodie Mihi, Cras Tibi’. This is not the kind of Black Metal I regularly put on, so at first I was a bit sceptical and negative. After a few spins it grew on me and turned out not to be that bad. Maybe I’m just not the right guy to take care of this and appreciate its true value. As mentioned, it is not bad and pretty dark stuff. You just have to like it and it gets better after each spin. Best advise is to listen and judge for yourself. For more information check out www.facebook.com/concatenatus, https://concatenatus.bandcamp.com, www.totenmusik.tumblr.com
