The Great Beyond

"The Great Beyond" is CROWORD’s first full length album. This Austrian five piece plays straight forward Death Metal with a bit of melodic side helpings at times. They previously had an EP out and that was called “Manifest Of Mortal Sickness” and some songs from that are on this as well. There were some good and not so good things on this. First let’s get to the good. The music is well played and is catchy and the riffs and song structures are memorable and the band also doesn’t sound like the 10,000 other Death Metal bands making the rounds. The music is also fast and powerful as well. The production is top notch and everything can be heard with no problem and the band’s guitar sound is also very cool in my eyes as well as the drum sound as they don’t sound like trigger drums. The bad is the vocals. They just sound so generic and he sounds like any other growler within the Death Metal genre. I also didn’t think he sang with much feeling or power. To me it just sounded like he was going through the motions as this played on. I will say this at least he doesn’t use that cup the mic and sing super low style that is just a joke. This wasn’t bad, but for me I just think the vocals could be better. More information at: www.facebook.com/croword-463543737013324, www.fastball-music.com
