The sound that Swedish Death Metal bands created in the early 1990s, based on the typical sound of the legendary HM2-guitar pedal, has left its giant footsteps in the world of extreme Metal. Some bands take it as an inspiration, some simply worship that sound. From all over the world there were long running formations or at least short-lived projects who tried to write music that is as close as possible to genre defining albums such as “Left Hand Path” or “Like An Ever Flowing Stream”. With CRYPT FEEDER, we now have an(other) English band that joins the ranks of the HM2-worshippers. And they do very well on “Into The Crypt”, their first release on 7” vinyl. Both songs, ‘Open The Tomb’ and ‘Reborn Through Flesh’, sound like forgotten stuff from old Swedish heroes. Despite the complete lack of uniqueness, this is completely my cup of tea. It should be yours as well if you can’t get enough of that wonderful stuff.
