The sophomore album to 1999’s “Rusted Angel”, this time they return with new vocalist Andreas Sydow. The obvious comparisons to such acts as: THE HAUNTED, AT THE GATES, SOILWORK, ARCH ENEMY, will of course arise. However, DARKANE is different in some respects such as many guitar parts follow the drum pattern. Example, drummer Peter Wildoer will be hitting his double bass and the guitarist will accentuate it with double rhythm picking even though for split seconds. Wildoer is probably thee most proficient percussionist in all of Metal drumming today. His ability to hit so many cymbals at once is awe inspring. His drumming alone keeps me interested, another high point is the variety of vocals on here, Sydow goes from Thrash vocals to Death, Black, growls and spoken. Where areas the ex-vocalist sounded like Dani Filth of CRADLE OF FILTH. I believe this to be the closest album to approach the Godhood of AT THE GATES seminal masterpiece “Slaughter Of The Soul”, call me insane but that’s my opinion. This is a must get!!!
