DEAD ROOSTER
Midnight Special

When I first heard the moniker DEAD ROOSTER, I thought of a Death Metal band with a lot of Gore influences. Oddly enough and past the weird band name, DEAD ROOSTER plays a mix of Doom Metal, Sludge and D-Beat. "Midnight Special" is one hell of an album, actually. I was really impressed by these Argentineans. Imagine a mix between DOOM, (recent) DARKTHRONE, MOTÖRHEAD and WINTER. Yes, it is actually that good. Production wise, this sounds great. The razor sharp guitar tone is complemented by a dirty and thick bass guitar sound. The drums are organic and in your face and the vocals have that raspy, high pitched range that fit in perfectly. Also, the riffing is great. Simple, but tasty and really catchy. The perfect example of this is ‘Nuclearwitch’. That’s one rabid piece of Sludge and D-Beat combined in a "moshing" fashion. If you don’t bang your head to it, you’re dead. On the other side of things, ‘Order Of The Frostnake’ slows down the album into a trance-like WINTER worship just before ‘Cronos Aggresor’ picks up again. Totally recommended if you are looking for some good old moshing Metal in the classic style, but with an edge. DEAD ROOSTER is not inventing a new genre, but what they do, they do it with a lot of passion and attitude. Support these guys, they totally deserve it! Get this album now!
