DEATHQUINTET from Norrköping are already around for 15 years, started as the Black Metal band SARGATANAS REIGN with help and contribution of some well known musicians like Devo Andersson. Several musical and line-up changes later, they present their self-financed new album "Godwork", again with a little help of some well known friends. The opener ‘For The Love’ is a mixture of Hardcore / Metalcore elements with blast beats, quick drumming and fast guitars in the vein of old CANNIBAL CORPSE and technical parts reminding of ATHEIST. The follower ‘Broken Hands’ is groovy modern melodic Death Metal with typical Swedish guitar melodies and seems to show the newer direction the band takes. ‘Crawl On Your Feet’ comes up with Hardcore vocals but again with typical Swedish melodies in the vein of mighty DESULTORY. ‘My Burden’ is another nice Hardcore touched song. ‘As The Canvas Frays’ opens the second part of the album, going back more into old school Death Metal with typical Death Metal vocals and guitars. This material shows up again with influences of CANNIBAL CORPSE, SIX FEET UNDER or even CARCASS and of course the old swedish school.
