DECREPID hails from London, England and is a new chapter for me. This is the band’s second full length release and it contains highly explosive Death Metal. A grinding feast of brutality and some good melodies to put a good drive to the songs. The path DECREPID travels has been travelled many times before, we are getting a good blend of American brutality and technical songwriting mixed up with European Death Metal and Death Metal area CARCASS, alas some good grinding laid on top of catchy base melodies, a good hook and vocals taking it to the top, and those vocals do work better in my book, compared to the usual growl used here, which becomes a tad too bland. Once in a while the whole scenery dissapears into itself, as it just isn’t hitting enough nerves or has enough energy and intensity to carry out the task of blowing me over. We are getting some great outputs from the guitars, a quite good production which highlights each instrument, though it lacks some sheer power and rawness, the vocals are ranging from quite dull to great, the drumming likewise, as some of the rhythm structures are just too off the mill, and the bass is rumbling along in that line. There are good elements all along this album, though the songwriting isn’t pulling it all together, the album just drowns along the 30 minutes it last, and when it’s done playing, you are left wondering why it didn’t made a bigger impact on you.
