DEFLORATION
Dripping With Blood
(Remission Records)

After its foundation in 2001, German brutal Death Metal outfit DEFLORATION recorded two demos, the second one being re-released on a split CD with Spanish STRANGLED. Now, the time has finally come for these guys to attack the listener with a 40 minutes slab of straight forward brutalizing Death Metal! Musically parallels to later CANNIBAL CORPSE, SUFFOCATION can easily be exposed here, definitely not badly executed yet I see the special something still missing. The production is very professional and of international standard, in addition to that skilled musicianship, diversified rhythms and a good balance between complexity and uncompromising drive are definitely present on “Dripping With Blood” as well but somehow this album does not really blow me away. To often this kind of US-styled Death Metal has crossed my path the last couple of years, too seldom it has been outstanding. This subgenre of Death Metal is flooded with bands ranging from shitty to top class and I would place DEFLORATION somewhere in the middle and you know how crowded that area is. Their album is a very solid brutal and heavy release yet nothing that has anything surprising to offer still if you need everything that sounds comparable to the above mentioned acts you will dig this one, too. www.defloration-deathmetal.de
