When I first pressed play, I thought this was a new DARK TRANQUILLITY record. Then, after a bit, I was thinking, SOILWORK? I just had to reread the band name and title to make sure because, granted, this band is not either of those previous groups. This is a much more modern “new generation” Melodi-Core sounding band. Now, if you listen further, you will understand my modern label. Some Metalcore elements creep into the sound at any given point within the songs. The occasional vocal stylizations or even the riffing, the added touches of keyboard / ambient interludes and maybe the slightly more accessible sound the band has, compared to past efforts. This is all interspersed with the melodic approach to the leads and the harmonies that give a nod to the past, but now touch upon the current crop of bands that take the flag of IN FLAMES and other such luminaries of that age and run with it. At one point while listening to this, I was taken with the savagery and intensity of the songs for brief moments, which got me to thinking of FACEDOWN, but then they throw in a more atmospheric element or they slow the pace down, which gives the listener a varied listening experience. Sticking with the up-to-date tag, the production is bright, clean and leans to a sound that allows the dual guitars to shine, and also, I just gotta say the drums just punch through the mix. Take a look at this band, they could be spoken in the same lines as those aforementioned bands in the future. www.facebook.com/degenerate.metal, https://band-degenerate.bandcamp.com
