Some years ago Joel, a friend of mine from Gothenburg, sent me a text message that he was at a Death Metal show watching an awesome new band called DEGIAL and that he got their demo for me cause he knew that I would love them. When the demo arrived I really was more than pleased. That was fucking cool, raw and vicious old school Death Metal. Then in 2010 the band released the absolutely remarkable "Death And Darkness Buries All…" 7" which was a giant step forward. One year later I had the pleasure to see DEGIAL live at Kill Town Deathfest in Copenhagen and they totally blew me away. Man, that was an astonishing performance and a lesson of how Death Metal has to sound. Surely one of the best performances at that festival and you can believe me the amount of outstanding bands at Kill Town was impressive. Since that show I was so eagerly longing for a DEGIAL full-length album and now here it is… And it is even greater than I ever dared to expect. Damned, I’m sure this album will be called a classic very soon. DEGIAL delivers a very vicious, furious and wild raging form of Death Metal which reminds me of very early MORBID ANGEL. These Swedish fiends are able to create the same intensity and violent attitude MORBID ANGEL used to have eons ago… But it’s not just that wild energy and dark power those demonic beasts are able to unleash that drives me crazy. it’s the brilliant songwriting. Hell yeah, all nine compositions on "Death’s Striking Wings" are so fuckin’ over the top that most of the contemporary Death Metal bands would have killed for just one or two songs of that caliber. For example, the title track is one of the best Death Metal songs EVER!!! Listen to this hymn a few times and I promise you will bow and worship DEGIAL as much as I do. This song is just perfect and the guitar riffs are so fucking addictive. This is Death Metal supremacy!!! By the way the guitar work and the drumming are absolutely stunning and the vocalist sounds like a demonic warlord who’s screaming out his hateful commands to a ghoulish army to overrun mankind. "Death’s Striking Wings" is without any doubt the best debut album I’ve heard in a very long time and it surely will be amongst the best Death Metal releases in 2012. All hails to Sepulchral Voice for releasing such a masterpiece. If you call yourself a fan of blasphemous Death Metal the ancient way do yourself a favor and get this album as soon as possible… THIS IS A MUST HAVE !!!
