DEMON HEAD
Demon Head - Winterland
(Levitation)
9:46min

It’s not that long ago that I first heard of this Danish five-piece DEMON HEAD. Their “Demo 2014” really pleased my ears just a few weeks ago, and they’re back with a new release very soon. This time it is a vinyl 7” on the tiny Danish label Levitation, specialized in Psychedelic Rock. Two tracks are here on this great looking EP, that has an appearance like an old fashioned single from an unknown Rock band. The band anthem is already well known from the demo. ‘Demon Head’ still rocks like it is 1974, not 2014, and it still pleases my ears to the max. The more I listen to this song, the more I love the guitars in the solo section. This music, somewhere between PENTAGRAM, Classic Rock and BLACK SABBATH, spiced with a little bit of twin guitars in THIN LIZZYstyle, sounds absolutely timeless. The other song here is the new ‘Winterland’, a song that doesn’t really differ from the A side stylistically. And it also sounds very fine. The guitar harmonies in the end even remind me of early IRON MAIDEN, so there’s one more reason to love DEMON HEAD. The other reasons? The absolutely heart-warming, extremely analog sound, the magic voice, the great songs, the fine groove… Decide for yourself which you prefer most. Even though I’m not a fan of the current retro wave, DEMON HEAD are very welcome with their way of bringing back the old musical values. All those with a crush for old fashioned Rock music with heart and style shouldn’t hesitate to check DEMON HEAD at: www.facebook.com/demoncoven or demonhead.bandcamp.com. You can listen to the title track here and the flipside here. If you want to get the 7”, that is limited to 500 copies, from the label, check: www.levitationrecords.dk
