DEMONA

DEMONA from Canada was already formed in 2007 by hellish front woman and guitarist Tanza, who then moved to Quebec / Canada where she found three additional members to fill up the line-up of the now known DEMONA. After releasing some split singles and a first full-length CD, they now present their second full-length "Speaking With The Devil", worshipping straight old school 80s Speed Metal. DEMONA’s neck breaking Speed Metal is a nice welcome between all the Death Metal releases I normally listen to. Sounding old school and fresh, they are heavily influenced by the New Wave Of British Heavy Metal and classic Hard Rock with some slight influences of Thrash Metal and have combined these influences to their own mix of hellish Speed Metal. The production is very old school and the reverb put on the vocals of Tanza is fitting well into their concept. The fast riffing of guitarist Gabrihell (nice name by the way) is whipping you through the nine tracks plus intro and outro. Mixed with fast drumming and some devilish bass lines, this four piece thrashes you through the provided fourty minutes. Of course they do not invent anything new with their music, but I still like the fact, that there are bands around, who play their own musical style regardless of any trends which are more trendy and better selling at the moment, even knowing, that there is not much money to earn with that. Especially the Spanish sung titles are nice alternatives to listen to. ‘Harder Than The Strongest Stone’ is a small pounding Thrash Metal influenced hymn and for me the best song on the album, a real killer song to listen to in the car on the way to work in the morning. A pure diverting old school fest. Check them out, if you like 80s stuff. www.facebook.com/demonaspeed, www.demonametal.com, www.inferno-records.net
