DENIAL definitely is one of my favorite bands from Mexico, if not the favorite band. The debut album "Catacombs Of The Grotesque " from 2009 is truly a masterpiece and still spinning frequently in my CD player. Chaos Records now puts out an awesome compilation of all the band’s work so far, except for the aforementioned debut album. So you’ll find the "Immense Carnage Vortex" promo EP from 2007, the "11°22.4’N 142°35.5’E" 7" EP from 2015, two live songs and three unreleased songs (one is a CENOTAPH cover) on this compilation. When the "Immense Carnage Vortex" EP came out 11 years ago it blew me so fuckin’ away and it still does. On their first release those Mexicans already delivered sophisticated and neck breacking Death Metal at its best. The songs have a dark atmosphere and are brutal like hell. Both songs (plus short instrumental) are just brilliant. In 2015 after some years of silence the "11°22.4’N 142°35.5’E" 7" saw the light of day and again I was totally impressed. It contains a killer DREAM DEATH cover and a terrific new song: ‘The Involution Of Kingly Spirits’. That riff at the beginning (starts at 00:26) is soooooo good. DENIAL was back and stronger than ever. The first unreleased song on this compilation is the outstanding ‘Deprecatio De Profundis Tenebrae’. Which truly is a crusher… same goes for the second unreleased track ‘At The Graves Of The Immemorial’ and the CENOTAPH cover. To sum it up: DENIAL’s music is a fucking awesome combination of gloomy atmosphere and an iron fist which hits you straight in your face. That’s what I call Death Metal: dark, malevolent and brutal. Aarrgghhh… forget all those new hipster Death Metal bands, DENIAL is the real shit… Buy or die! www.facebook.com/darkened.denial, www.chaos-records.com
