Well it seems that DETONATION aren’t exactly popular here at Voices. Especially their last output has been executed rather harsh for combining pretty much everything worth loathing in modern Metal. And although I can see the point I still beg to differ: if you can find it in your heart to forgive them that they’re still sticking to Gothenburg Melo-Death in 2007 you will find that there are far worse examples of this style. And that pretty much includes all of the bands that made that sound famous who are still around. Even if you’re – like my humble self and presumably 98,9876 % of our readers – pretty much sick and tired of it you still have to admit that the Dutch definitely have a knack for blending tightness, heaviness and melody into compact and catchy songs. There are no real standout tracks and after all this is still far too much routine and sterility for me to embrace it, but at the end of the day nobody will ever surpass AT THE GATES anyway and it wouldn’t be fair to blame one of the better bands still trying… www.osmoseproductions.com
