Blood, Vampirism & Sadism

I can still remember when this album was originally released in 1995 and I can still remember back then I thought it was pointless noise. And even now, 28 years later, I can not find anything that changes my opinion that this album is a waste of resources. “Blood, Vampirism & Sadism” is the second full-length by DIABOLOS RISING, a project formed by Mika Luttinen and Magus Wampyr Daoloth. And as much as I appreciate the musicians involved for their works with their main bands, IMPALED NAZARENE and THOU ART LORD, ROTTING CHRIST among others, this is a clear fail. Industrial noises interchanging with synthesizer passages, spoken words and aggressive screams / shouts are scattered randomly throughout the playing-time. Even for the situation back in 1995 the used drum computer sounds terrific. Only the opening track ‘Satanic Propaganda (S.N.T.F. Rising)’ offers a bit charm, some kind of Dark Wave tune. The crowning glory of the whole thing is that it is supposed to be a kind of concept album, split into three parts. I can still understand the lyrical concept behind it, but not the musical approach at all. In fact, it is one of the few albums that can hardly be heard in one piece. Well, if that’s the concept now, then I can honestly listen to the lawnmower man, too. The re-release comes in form of a digi-book, limited to 333 items and I have my doubts if the label will sell them all.
