DIRTY THIRTY… cool band name! I suppose the band got the idea for the band name from the fact that all members are aged over thirty. Great! The band’s members are no newcomers in the music business as all of them have a long musical background. Tomohiro and Satoru for example played in a great band called SPELLBOUND before which released an excellent MCD in the early 90s called "Escape". Now they are back with Ryoichi and Yukitomo on their side to kick ass. DIRTY THIRTY plays traditional Thrash Metal which is influenced by the late 80s / early 90s scene. So it’s no surprise that their stuff reminds on classic Bay Area bands such as EXODUS, VIOLENCE etc. The CD-R which the band sent in is a compilation of all their recorded stuff. The disc starts off with ‘Six Feet Under’, a classic Thrasher taken from the "Earthquake A.G.M" compilation CD with Japanese bands only. The song has a powerful production and it is the newest track of the band. It already shows all the trademarks of the band: excellent riffing, many speed changes in the song and ass tight playing. It’s like a trip back in time… The next four tracks are taken from the "Struggle For Existence" EP (released in Dec. 2003). Musical wise here you get the same… excellent Thrash Metal, packed with various rhythm and speed changes… just the sound has a little bit more bass but still good. The last three tunes are from the first demo "Squeezed Out Shit!" (recorded in 2002), two songs plus one intro. I hope these Metal veterans get a chance to throw a full length on the market pretty soon… So in case you like non trendy Thrash Metal far beyond any Nu Metal and other plagues then get in touch with them and ask for their releases. Come on and bang with the gang! www.hollywood-records.com/wasted/dirtythirty/ or email them boo@hollywood-records.com.
