What comes to your mind when you see a band name like DISHELL? Probably you think the same as me. A D-Beat odyssey in the realm of extreme and old fashioned Black and Death Metal. And there is no better way to describe the music of this Polish four piece from Kraków. The guys are around since at least 2014 under this moniker and released a 7” and a full length to date. “Teutonic Beat” now is their second full length album. Well, “full length” surely is a little bit overdone, as the nine tracks of the album clock at under 20 minutes. But the impact of “Teutonic Beat” is deeper than a lot of really full length running albums I heard. Furious, simple ultra heavy riffs team up with a driving D-Beat drumming and Crustcore-laden vocals to make up a perfect partnership. Imagine early CELTIC FROST mixed with early DISFEAR or DOOM and you have a pretty good idea how this bloody bastard of an album sounds like. If you want cheerful melodies, musical frills or elaborate song writing, DISHELL will surely not satisfy you one tiny bit. But if you’re into dirty, fierce and rude thrashing madness, “Teutonic Beat” will surely please you as much as it pleased me. And as soon as the drums started to drive the opener ‘Prosto W Noc’ forward, DISHELL had me on their side. Musical dirt bags like ‘Kres’, the extremely punkish ‘Zmory’ or the skull splitting ‘Zaglady Rytm’ are just the kind of music I will always like!
