I still can remember their excellent debut album “Maras” in 2002 which made a very strong impression on me. Now after some years of silence DISSIMULATION are back with their new effort entitled “Prakeikimas” (which means “Damnation” in English). The first I noticed was that the band enhanced their Thrash Metal influences quite a lot and developed more into a dark thrashing Metal outfit. If you hear the first riffs of this album you will notice that KREATOR had a big impact on this Lithuanian based squad and some Bay Area riffing is cited as well. But they are far away from being copy cats, NO! They just taking these influences, mixing it with a slight Black Metal edge and adding their own interpretation / identity to it. The result turns out as a very convincing, mature full length album which is executed by excellent and skilled musicians. The six songs, which are all sung in their native language, are full of great, heavy thrashing riffs, tempo changes (from slow to rapid fast) and every break fits well. You get here everything a (blackened) thrashing Metal heart needs and I can highly recommend to have a listen to tracks like the strong opener ‘As Jusu Prakeikimas’, ‘Ju Septynetas’ or ‘Omega Et Alpha’. The songs are very powerful and heavy which is the merit of the excellent production. The entire album was recorded in Phoenix Studios in Riga and put the tunes in its right lights. They did really a great job there. So to sum it up here: “Prakeikimas” is a killer album which should not be ignored by underground Metalfans whose Metal hearts beat for high quality blackened Thrash Metal.
