DISTERROR
Catharsis

Well, I can hardly deny that a name like DISTERROR appeals to me like lights to a moth. The “Dis” promises some rude D-Beat, and “terror” leaves a certain hope for Grind influences – EXTREME NOISE TERROR and TERRORIZER won’t be the worst to expect… Yet, this three-piece from Cancún in Mexico leave this hope at least partly unfulfilled. But this ain’t a bad thing, for their first full length “Catharsis” is fine stuff for D-Beat maniacs anyway. DISTERROR added a lot of ingredients to the style characteristic for this genre. Be it well dosed melodies and harmonies, some rocking and rolling grooves, catchy riffs and even classic Metal moments – everything that fitted to the beat was entangled into a pretty unusual and unique sound. Sometimes, the late DISFEAR recordings come to mind, sometimes TRAGEDY walk around the corner and most of the songs have ideas similar to both Crust masters. On the fantastic ‘Gilgamesh’, DISTERROR even unveil epic moments, right after the absolutely rude one minute club ‘Raices’. ‘Labyrinth’, the true Metal influenced title track or the opening ‘Viva La Muerte’ – every song is a real smash. Thanks to the fact that the songwriting of DISTERROR is immensely fluent on “Catharsis”, with structures that remind of Metal in common and sometimes Blacker Metal in particular. So, if you’re into good, sometimes blackened Crust with class, you need to check out DISTERROR at disterror.bandcamp.com or www.facebook.com/disterror. To me it is no wonder that the tape release of “Catharsis” was done by Caligari Records. This guy seems to know exactly what I need. But Caligari Records means finest tapes with finest artwork in finest quality. So, visit them at www.caligarirecords.com or www.facebook.com/caligarirecords
