Finally a re-issue of one of the best Thrash Metal albums to come out from Brazil. DORSAL ATLÂNTICA is a beast on their own. They do play a style of Metal that is obviously Thrash, but there is also some slight touches of Hardcore / Crossover (especially in the vocals) but they can play in such aggressive way that it can border the realms of Death Metal. And for the sake of it, they are also doing things with a quite strange, sometimes complex way of playing, in an almost progressive or technical way, but never really falling in those realms. This is their second album released back in 1988, which is my second favorite from them (the third album “Searching For The Light" is my all-time fave). If you think Brazil was only SEPULTURA, SARCOFAGO or CHAKAL, DORSAL ATLÂNTICA proved that they can add more to the South American scene. You can find traces of CELTIC FROST, SLAYER, METALLICA and VENOM, as well as Hardcore like D.R.I., CRUMBSUCKERS, AGNOSTIC FRONT, with touches of Progressive Rock. Still, the Thrash Metal side wins. Something to notice is the great bass playing here, and that it is done with the right power and not lost in the mix. As the original version of this album is very hard to find, and it seems it was only released on vinyl, this new edition is the perfect way to add a very fascinating extreme Metal band to your collection. I must mention this album also exists with an English version, but the original Portuguese vocals add that exotic feel that can only be achieved through their native tongue. Added were a few bonus live songs and rehearsals, but just with the original songs it is more than enough to get this underrated album. www.facebook.com/dorsaloficial, www.areadeathproductions.com
