Der Urgewalten Werk

If I didn’t knew this band was from Germany, I would have signed in blood they were Eastern European. They have a quite distinctive flavor, being it the way they compose and the way they deliver the music that makes me think of early MASTER’S HAMMER although less symphonic. First, the production values are great, everything sounds clear and powerful, even the guitars that in this special style of Black Metal are not that distorted, have the right amount of presence, and the riffs have that icy feeling, that recalls EMPEROR, MAYHEM and IMMORTAL all of them in their early incarnations. One thing that is also noticeable is that there 4 songs that are well over the 10 minutes mark, which is a risky move in any music style, as to keep attention in such a longer-than-normal songs requires an ability few are able to conjure, and in this case I can say the band is able to do it with success most of the time. The duo of evil ghouls is also not afraid to add a bit of technical aspects in their execution, but used with a subtle touch. The drum work, I must add, is quite outstanding and adds a lot to the music. This self-released album contains besides the 4 songs, 2 instrumentals, and the CD version also has a MANIAC BUTCHER cover song. I must add that it is also available on vinyl (minus the cover song) for those lovers of the aforementioned format. Without doubt, a very good release for those worshippers of the second wave of Black Metal with an exotic touch. www.drengskapur.de, www.facebook.com/drengskapur.de
