DROWNED IN BLOOD

Welcome to a piece of Mexican Death Metal hell, this album is a furnace of classic South American and American influences melted into a blazing pit of brutality. During the first couple of listens I couldn’t stop thinking of DROWNED IN BLOOD as the Mexican equivalent to the Brazilian madmen KRISIUN, as their pummeling and brutal takes on Death Metal are quite similar and punishing. We get some good and catchy riffing, relentless and a tad chaotic drumming and an ear ripping growl. DROWNED IN BLOOD do not offer anything we haven’t heard before, though the music they deliver is delivered with passion and conviction, and that draws me into such madness as this. If you want the bastard child of KRISIUN and old South Florida Death Metal (read, especially, DEICIDE), the "Underworld" is a quite enjoyable album to jump into, there’s nothing fancy about this, just good old and solid delivered Death Metal. The production is quite lo-fi though, there is a tad of noise in the channels once in a while, and the sound picture have a tendency to mud a bit, though that is quite charming in some instances, and it doesn’t matter that much here, as the music is raw and brutal, a nice remembrance to the golden days of demo tapes. www.facebook.com/pages/drowned-in-blood/183231638377442, www.alprods.net
