Old school European Thrash! Consider yourself being a Metalhead in the mid ’80s, somewhere between Germany and Poland and this is what you’ll expect to hear from a young Thrash Metal band! DRUNK THRASHER is a solo project by Piotr Palej, a young Polish Thrasher. And what we have in our hand is the 2024 version of his 2022 EP “Raining Vomit” and this is in fact a sort of compilation of all his releases since this Godz Ov War Productions edition contains also the 2023 single ‘The Poisoning’. The sound is classic Thrash Metal in the European / Teutonic style and I can hear a lot of SODOM and early KREATOR influences, both in the singing and in the overall sound. The songtitles are already explaining the themes covered in his lyrics, with necro atmosphere and drinking raids. At a first listening I wasn’t quite pleased with the production, but after the second listening I totally got into it and quite enjoyed it, since it gives some good old school vibes. The Teutonic Thrash influences, as I already said, are quite inherent. The last track, ‘Drunk Thrashers Attack’, which was already featured on the 2022 version, is in fact the first demo realized in 2020 and the recording is indeed different, but cool at the same time. This is nothing new, but this 16 minutes EP is very well played old school Thrash Metal that is really enjoyable and I’m curious how Piotr will behave in the long run with his first full length. Who knows. In the meantime this EP is definitely worth a listening. Nothing new, but in some cases that is a good thing and this is one of them since playing in the old school manner isn’t that easy.
