No Mercy For Us

After three demos released in the first half of the 2000s, DYING from Seville, Spain, drastically changed their style from Thrash / Crossover to brutal Death Metal in the vein of SUFFOCATION, DYING FETUS and CANNIBAL CORPSE. Their debut album, "Born From Impurity", was self-released in 2009. After many years, the Andalusians return with a new full-length, under the no-compromising sign of Sevared Records, always faithful to the brutal Death sound. The eight tracks of "No Mercy For Us" don’t strike for originality and incisiveness, but the band sometime manages to add some Middle-Eastern melodies, like in ‘Arrival Of Decadence’, which can vaguely remind of NILE or AVULSED (especially the "Yearning From The Grotesque" album) or even some very melancholic intros / outros with clean guitars and apparently woodwinds like in ‘Torturer God’. The heavily triggered drums and the hog-like vocals are not my cup of tea, but they are surely part of this sub-genre’s standard, and the same goes for the slow palm mute sections which often follow very classical lead breaks. The weak element of DYING’s music is the lack of cohesion in the structure of their songs. Musically speaking, it sounds like they are going nowhere while still adding so many generic riffs that it all ends up being quite long winded. Their technical skills are good enough to make this record more or less suitable for brutal Death oriented listeners. More information at www.facebook.com/dying-154539384539, www.sevared.com.
